When you first power on your ZonePad 8, you'll see the main device discovery screen with the Optimal Audio logo. The ZonePad 8 will automatically search for Zone controllers on your network.
The main screen consists of:
- Network Status: Shows Wi-Fi connection status in the top-right
- Settings Button: Gear icon for accessing ZonePad settings
- Device List: Shows discovered Zone processors
- Action Buttons:
- Refresh Button(↻): Manually refreshes device discovery
- Add Button (+): Manually add a device by IP address
Automatic Discovery
The ZonePad 8 uses mDNS (multicast DNS) to automatically discover Zone controllers on your network.
Discovered devices appear as cards showing:
- Device name (e.g., "device.local (Z8P Zone Processor)")
- IP address
- Firmware version
- Connection status indicators
- Warning icons for outdated firmware
Manually adding a device
- Tap the **+** button in the top-right
- Enter the device's IP address or hostname
- Optionally provide a custom name
- Tap **Add** to save the device
Connecting to a Device
Simply tap on any device card to connect and the ZonePad will:
- Show a loading screen with connection progress
- Navigate to the device's web interface
- Display the Zone controllers WebApp interface
