This article refers to the physical output connections on the rear of Zone units. It's vital to understand the difference between zones and outputs - several outputs can constitute a zone.
All models of our Zone controllers feature Line Outputs. Zone 4 and 4P have four line outputs, and Zone 8 and 8P have eight. The powered Zone 4P and 8P additionally feature four and eight amplifier outputs respectively. Each of these outputs can be routed to any zone in either stereo or mono.
To access the output routing settings, in WebApp navigate to Settings > Line Outputs or Amp Outputs.
For the following examples, we will be using Line Output settings from WebApp Desktop Demo emulating a Zone 8P. Note that the process for Amp Output settings is identical.
When in Line Output Settings, select an output to edit. Go to Line Output Source and select the signal source for the output you are working on. All zones are processed in stereo. Mono/stereo reproduction is controlled by how you route to your outputs - either by using separate outputs for left and right or by routing just a mono sum. Note that any stereo zones require two physical outputs.
In the example below, we are setting up Line Outputs 1 and 2 to output zone 1 in stereo. With Line Output 1 wired to the left speaker, and Line Output 2 wired to the right. Please ensure your speakers are set up and wired correctly to avoid any phase issues.
